Foley Recommendations Leaked

CityTV received a leaked copy of the recommendations. Brian Foley is quoted as saying this set of negotiations ranks among the most difficult, challenging, complicated, and emotional settlements he has mediated in his 30 year career.

What's been leaked:
  • 17.5% pay hike over 5 years
  • $1000.00 signing bonus
  • workers would not suffer any loss of seniority, vacation pay or sick pay due to strike
Contracting Out
  • city to give the union 6 months notice if it intends to contract out - including the 2010 Olympics
    • city to make provisions for displaced staff through retraining, severance or retirement
Whistleblower
  • city enact legislation passed in principle by city council
Library Workers
  • increase of one pay grade for some categories of library workers
Establishment of a committee to look into setting up a compressed work week

Recommendations on 60 outstanding issues

Yeah the senior categories -
so much for "pay equity"
And Aux gets shafted once again with no clear gains in benefits
