The deal: the City will meet with CUPE 1004 executives in exchange for no pickets at City Hall and other 1004 non-designated work sites.
No CUPE 1004 pickets outside City Hall as CUPE 15 returns to work
[October 10, 2007 05:40 PM]
VANCOUVER - There will be no CUPE 1004 pickets or "welcoming party" outside City Hall tomorrow morning as CUPE 15 members return to work. CUPE 1004 will not be making any media comment until after they have had an opportunity to meet with the employer.

Jackson better get the deal done soon or we are done. For every day out now the public is going to be on our ass.
I think Local 1004 is making a mistake by not picketing City Hall when members of Local 15 return to work. What makes Mike Jackson believe the City is really going to negotiate this time? The City is trying to save face but past experience has proven they cannot be trusted. I say picket the damn Hall! By the way, I voted NO! I support you Locals 1004 & 391.
Well, PB, I know you only threw this out there the other day....
"There is hope. The CUPE 391 President believes that there is only a small gap between the Union and the City."
How come before the vote, we were told the City didn't address our major issues such as pay equity and PT/Aux issues - 24 hours later there's only a "small gap" between the Union and the City. Sorry, small gap???? How did our major issues turn to a small gap (I pose this to 391 members, not PB).
Your major issues turned into a 'small gap' when 15 went back to work and 1004 is leaning. All of a sudden, its getting a little lonely out there on the picket line, solidarity is ebbing away. If 1004 settles soon, then 391 could be on an invisible strike: no one knows you're out and know one cares. All civic parties support Foley, so no political pressure forcing the city's hand either.
HEY 1004 ITS OVER!!
If the City gives in and lets you close your so called "small gap" great! If they don't I hope you have the balls to tell your members that Foley's offer is the best they can get at this time. And then call for another vote!! This time recommending acceptance. Its time to move on and live to fight another day. Victory is not better than death.
Uhm, A. You didn't read my question properly and B. Libraries aren't a headline grabber but believe me, a lot of people care!
Mike Zora has a migraine, no talks could take place
no one knows you're out and know one cares.
For people who don't like to read, or have small children, or have school projects, to need to research some detail on law, or statistics, or music or an infinite number of other subjects, this is true.
But let's pretend we live in a world where no one cares about libraries. That, I would think, would be something that should equally (at the very least) trouble Library management.
24 hours later there's only a "small gap" between the Union and the City.
The term "small gap" does not imply "insignificant gap". The list of resolved items is long.
Zora with a migraine? A brain tumor is too good for him.
brain tumour? ouch
